Evaluating the LCR Resident Assembly on Data and AI

The Civic Data Cooperative in Liverpool City Region worked with local partners (the NHS and Combined Authority) to design and deliver a Resident Assembly which brought together a diverse group of people from across the region to deliberate on trustworthy use of data and AI.

Over the course of four days the participants heard from a number of different people working in data and AI, and also heard about some of the risks and concerns people may have. The group worked together to develop a Charter for Data and AI.

My role was to work alongside the team, from the project set-up through to after the report was published, to help ensure the process was credible and trustworthy. My evaluation report was published alongside the Charter to provide assurance.

“Working with Anna on evaluating our Residents’ Assembly meant it was a better experience for our residents and more impactful and relevant for our stakeholders. Anna was a critical friend throughout the process and helped us consistently reflect on the choices we were making and how to do better at representing resident voice in both our process and outcome. As always, there’s a lot I would adjust if I was to run the same deliberative exercise again, but bringing Anna on board would be something that stayed the same. Her depth of experience both in deliberation and evaluation were invaluable both in designing and implementing our Assembly.”
