I supported and co-chaired two co-production groups designed to inform the evaluation of the implementation of the Domestic Abuse Duty for MHCLG.
Working closely with Ipsos and their evaluation partners, I supported a group of people with lived experience of domestic abuse, and a group of frontline practitioners working in the sector to contribute to the evaluation.
Both groups kicked off during the inception phase of the evaluation, and remained engaged throughout in order to shape the evaluation and to contribute to the interpretation of the emerging findings.
The groups iterated over time to find a format that worked best for the participants. We worked with them to understand what aspects of the evaluation they wanted to contribute to, and how best to enable them to do that.
As a result, we were able to tell a clear story about the impact the coproduction had on the evaluation, from giving the team the confidence to reach out to people who might not be receiving support, through to developing additional unplanned outputs to help contextualise the evaluation findings.
Drawing on this knowledge, I also supported the team with the qualitative analysis and reporting of this important evaluation.
